Dear 'Deola

How did we forget how to be young?
and think like a normal lady would?
Every minute, our hearts are filled
with a mandate to change the world
while reaching out to the once forgotten.

But I sometimes wish
I can sit, cross leg, read a fashion magazine
and not worry about the tears of the world.

Our dream as little girls was to be and do,
like Biblical Esther, Deborah, Joseph and Daniel,
We dream with our eyes open and held on to grace.
We laughed when those in pain found succor
and cried when gun shot drowned our teenage giggles.

Our dream, dear 'Deola,
has always brought us together and apart
to find our paths.

I had a glimpse into the future,
In our Septuagenarian age,
young girls asked us how they can change the world,
we saw ourselves in them and told our story.
For a new circle of change-makers bud with every generation.

I surrender

show me a way
a channel, a route
through which I could reachout to this hurting world
and wipe out that tears rolling down her cheeks

I know, I know
I must tread only on that path I know well
else I cramp my style with stinking gibberish

My wallet is flat tonight
please don't count on that
Still this urge to belong
an undiluted desire to serve
yearns so loudly I can hold back no more

I surrender
in total submission my heart cry
Here I am, use me lover of my soul
to be a helping hand in my society
to learn to give without asking for a refund
to able to influence others into aiming for the best
never to try playing god over my peers
to you my king I obediently surrender.

Be Blessed

The first time I heard Yolanda's "Be Blessed" I actually stopped what I was doing to listen well to the Lyrics and yeah was I blessed!

Be Blessed By Yolanda Adams

Verse1:
Too many storms have passed your way
And you're all washed out cause it rained on your parade
Seems nobody cares about you anyway
Now you're living your life like a castaway
Searched for strength inside was it all in vain
Cause the deeper you dig you find more and more pain
Don't let your tomorrow be like yesterday
Cause I spoke to God, I called out your name
And on your behalf, I just asked if He would be there for you
I want you to

Chorus:
Be Blessed, Don't live life in distress
Just let go, let God, He'll work it out for you
I pray that your soul will be blessed
Forever in his rest, Cause you deserve his best no less

Verse2:
Enter a place where you never have to cry
Never have to live a lie, never have to wonder why
Never want for nothing you're always satisfied
In the peace that his arms will provide
He will erase any guilt or shame, any bad habits you've got
You won't wanna do em again, Yes we all can change, I can testify
See I spoke to God, I called out your name
And on your behalf, I just asked, If he would be there for you
I want you to

Repeat Chorus

My prayer for you today, Is that you trust and always obey
On this day keep calling (choir)
On this day keep calling (solo)
He'll keep you from falling (choir)
He'll keep you from falling (solo)
He'll supply the answers (choir)
Yes He will, if you stand in faith and trust Him to make a way out
of no way (solo)

Repeat Chorus

Be blessed from the bottom of your feet to the crown of your head
Your life be blessed
Your family be blessed
Your finances be blessed
Everything about you

Whao! Its thurday already...hmm, a beautiful week this has been. Thought it was going to rain all through! But of course its rainy season, a real blessing!

Have been doing a lot of personal development activities. You know, there's room for growth!

Hmm... am still in Abuja! A nice city. Not as exciting as Lagos but good. Enough space. Fresh air. Qiuet city. But sometimes leaves me claustrophobic! lol

Have been doing some photography too... not worried that it will take the place of my writings!

As for community development projects, putting on my thinking cap. Really want to work on initiatives that involves giving back to the society, and youths most especially.
